A number of studies have been performed to assess the condition of the site and the possibilities for continuing the project, for example:

​

  • Inspections of Energoproekt and Design Institute “Atomic Energy” on the current condition of the site, constructions of Belene NPP and the conditions of the delivered equipment.

  • Engineering overview and possibilities for realization of Belene NPP prepared by Energopoekt in 1996.

  • Technical and economic analysis "New nuclear power in the Republic of Bulgaria" prepared by Energoproekt in 1999 on behalf of the National Electric Company.
